I’ve never been one of those people that felt like I needed to go to the nail salon and get pampered, but I do love to paint my nails. It’s good to feel girly and put together, am I right?! I love doing at-home manicures and pedicures about every month or two to really get in deep and get off all the dead skin and push back the cuticles. Here are a few recipes and a step by step for you to do your own!

First, get your foot bath ready

Ingredients that you will need:

To a large bowl add

✔️ 1/2c plain Epsom salts: transdermally delivers sulfur and magnesium -most of the majority of people are deficient

✔️ 1/4c baking soda: alkalizes, absorbs heavy metals, exfoliates &  creates silky water!

✔️ 1 drop doTERRA Peppermint (highest in the constituent menthol) for cleansing + boosting circulation

✔️ 5 drops doTERRA Zendocrine Blend – supports detoxification

(click here to purchase doTERRA at 25% off)

Here’s what ya do next:

-Soak your feet in the mixture for 5-10 minutes or until your feet start to get wrinkly and the skin gets soft

-Then pull one foot out at a time and get your foot scrubber and go to town on all the dead skin on the bottoms of your feet and heels.

-Next, push back your cuticles and cut manicure the skin around your nail. Cut and file nails if needed.

– Repeat on the next foot. Then dry off your feet and polish!

-Follow the same procedure for your hands and manicure your nails last:)

Bonus tips: turn on some fun music to jam to or a podcast for learning and/or let your daughter join in and make it a fun mother-daughter bonding experience!

Want to polish in a healthier way?

The harmful chemicals you want to avoid in polish are:
formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Camphor, Formaldehyde Resin xylene and triphenyl phosphate (TPHP).

Some of the cleaner brands are free of at least 5 of these harmful chemicals.
Here are my fave cleaner brands:

Karma organic

Static nails
Essie (not as clean as the others but better than the others at the drug store!)

Hot tip:

I only polish my fingernails once per week and I find that the Essie gel setter polish helps it last that long. I’ve been using it for months and I really like it! It’s sold where most Essie polishes are:)

Have fun!
